High in the mountains, there was
once a rustic, homemade ski lodge populated by reluctant honeymooners, errant
husbands, truant plumbers, youthful ski bums ... plus one naive innkeeper.
The Miller family's funky old Inn high in the
Rockies where the grub was great and the powder was deep. With humor and
insight the author remembers when, as a single mother, she struggled to fill
the gigantic footprints vacated by her frenetically energetic father. Her first
year in the Inn business brought adventures hilarious, romantic, tragic.
Re-live life as she skied it early in the 1970s.

About the author "I come from a
family where story telling is important," says Virginia Cornell. "We like to
entertain people, to make them laugh." But instead of spinning yarns out loud,
as her father and older brothers always did, she prefers to write them down.
Before becoming an innkeeper she taught English at
Arizona State University. Immediately after her five years in the ski lodge
business she bought, published, and edited the Winter Park Manifest
weekly newspaper. She is the author of the Benjamin Franklin Award-winning
biography Doc Susie. "VaCuum," a column she wrote eight years for the
Carpinteria Herald, Montecito Life and Goleta Sun is now
on-line. Look for "The Latest Wrinkle" every
week.
